This new glamorous cocktail bar in the heart of fashionable Dalston had been converted from an old florists shop, and had residents living above. The change of use Planning Permission had a strict condition that required suitable sound proofing and also required a full sound test by a professionally qualified Acoustic Consultant with a report to show that the noise criteria had been achieved before the  bar was allowed to open.

 

The owner brought in Shaun Murkett Acoustics to give technical advice on appropriate sound proofing materials and construction techniques and to then conduct full sound tests between the cocktail bar and the residents above. 

 

The building was completed on schedule and in budget; we undertook the sound tests, analysed the results, and our full noise report was quickly issued with conclusions that confirmed it had passed all the tests. All the noise criteria and noise requirements of the Local Authority were successfully cleared by our sound tests and report, which enabled the Viva Tapas cocktail bar to open and start trading safely in this very busy late night area.Further Licence Appications were successful and enabled later hours to be extended. A good result!
