Often large industrial sites have some spare land that could usefully be converted to residential use, and Thames Water had decided to convert parts of this large pumping station at Bromley into luxury flats. When the residents moved in there were soon concerns over noise and vibration from the machinery nearby and also located deep underground.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd, were called in and commissioned to investigate and undertake a full Noise and Vibration survey, and to compile an acoustic report with recommendations to resolve all the issues.

 

The main cause of the vibration was accurately identified, and professional technical advice was offered with detailed recommendations in a schedule of works to reduce the noise and vibration transmission to the new houses.

 

The works were soon implemented and the follow up noise and vibration tests confirmed the success of our recommendations, and the residents were then able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of their new luxury flats with the charm of large industrial machines working quietly nearby.
