The senior management of this large American based supermarket chain, Safeways, (now taken over by Morrisons), was concerned over potential noise from deliveries in its UK operation. After our successful work with Marks and Spencer ,  Shaun Murkett Acoustics were commissioned to undertake a broad overview of general procedure and give professional advice to reduce potential noise issues, and facilitate future planning applications.

We undertook many individual noise surveys at stores all over the UK; all successfully resolved. Our reports confirmed there were many generic noise issues to the logistics operation for distribution, and detailed lists of recommendations were discussed with senior operational management. Our recommendations implemented for smooth running of deliveries, we then re-tested to confirm the success of these long term ongoing projects.

We were commissioned to liaise with DTZ and Safeways’ Planning Consultants on possible noise issues at many proposed new stores. Future planning applications included our reports and these noise awareness techniques. Good practice procedure documents were widely circulated throughout the Retail and Logistics industry, which were all derived from our many early original noise reports for both Safeway and Marks and Spencer. Our noise reports enable all these planning applications to be successfully granted.
