From our previous experience with noise issues with deliveries and operations at Marks and Spencer’s stores, Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were called in to advise on the proposed purchase of replacement trolley wheels for the transfer of produce and items from the delivery vehicles to the stores, and which were known from experience to be potentially noisy, which could give rise to restricted hours of operation.

 

We were commissioned to organise a suitable trial between various manufacturers to find the quietest trolley wheel and most cost effective solution. We organised a sound test outside with accurate sound measurements taken of the typical operation of the various different manufacturers trolley wheels, and compiled a report with the individual results. Our noise report with detailed conclusions was used to form a decision on which company would be awarded the multi-million pound contract for long term replacement of trolley wheels.

 

Over the years various other new products under proposal which had potential noise implications were consequently tested and accessed for noise with sound tests and reports to assist in the various purchasing and logistics departments of M&S.
