This smart Georgian street in West London has had famous celebrity residents over the years, including Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles. The leaseholders of this luxury West End apartment proposed to refurbish their home, including wooden floors throughout, and the freeholder had concerns about the potential for noise disturbance to the residents below.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were called in by Ayad Al-tuhafi Architects to investigate and to give professional technical advice on the noise issues, and instructed to undertake appropriate sound tests and compile a noise report. We have previously worked with these specialist architects on many high quality, top end refurbishment projects for their very exacting clientele. A full sound test to ISO 140 and ISO 717 was conducted, the results analysed and considered, and our design suggestions and options discussed with the architects. A full report was issued with recommendations and refurbishment works started.

 

When construction works were completed a follow up sound test was commissioned to confirm the success of our recommended building works, and to ensure the highest quality of sound performance was achieved. This reassured all the concerns of the freeholders, and legally meet the requirements of the lease.
