This £80 million project, in a new upcoming fashionable area of East London, required an Acoustic Expert with a lot of experience in Architectural and Building Acoustics. The original warehouse factory was to be demolished, and over 70 new luxury residential apartments built to a very high standard. The development overlooks London Fields Park, but was close to a railway line, and potential noise and vibration was a serious concern.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were commissioned to join the design team, to give technical advice to resolve all these noise issues. The main brief from the Developers was to achieve a superior sound performance over and above standard Document E Regulations.

 

Our report gave detailed technical recommendations and various options, discussed with the design team which were integrated into the final construction documents.

 

The work started and we made regular site meetings to assist the contractors on technical queries. The building finished on schedule and budget; completion sound tests were successfully undertaken, with our completion report, confirming a very high sound performance. Our final report and Certificates allowed all noise criteria of the Local Authority and Government to be formally cleared. The apartments sold out very quickly.
