This large carnival takes place every year in Hackney, with large sound stages with live music, a big procession of many floats with music systems and dancers, and over 20,000 people taking part in the festivities on the streets. With the potential for noise disturbance to local residents, an experienced team is essential to ensure it smoothly, and the noise levels are controlled effectively.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd, well known to the Local Authorities, were commissioned by the event organisers to undertake noise surveys, liaise with Police and official organisers, issue reports with detailed recommendations to control noise and to issue a comprehensive noise management plan.

 

Our acoustic reports were then discussed with the event team. Our recommendations were implemented, and careful noise management and monitoring on the day of the Carnival event with our experienced team successfully confirmed that the noise levels were within all the agreed criteria in our noise management plan. The Hackney Carnival festival was successful, with no noise complaints, and enjoyed by everyone taking part .

 

The Local Authority could then allow planning to start for the following years Carnival. We have continued to be commissioned to provide the Noise Management service on this event for the last 5 years. Hackney Carnival 2019 had a record capacity of over 100,000 people attending.
