The modern financial dealing rooms, located in the City of London, or often in expensive areas like St James and Mayfair, and all have extensive computing and communication systems that require many additional air conditioning units. The external units are often located at rooftop level, and local authorities had concerns about different noise issues, as the buildings are close to residents, with many luxury apartments and houses in this expensive part of London.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd, well known to the Local Authorities, were commissioned by the management to investigate and undertake comprehensive noise surveys, all to British Standard BS 4142, and to issue acoustic reports with detailed design recommendations to reduce noise levels from the ventilation and air conditioning units, on a whole series of these individual dealing rooms.

 

The acoustic reports were soon issued and our recommendations discussed with the design team. Our recommended works were then successfully installed with the new ventilation machinery and plant; follow up sound tests successfully confirmed that the noise levels were within all the legal criteria, and the dealing rooms opened up again for business, with ice cold, and very quiet, air conditioning.
