The Bootstrap Charity, who run Dalston Roof Park, were keen to establish the rooftop as a new event space. Many residents live nearby in luxury apartments, and there was concern over potential noise and disturbance.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were called in and commissioned to investigate and undertake noise surveys and acoustic reports with comprehensive design recommendations to allow outdoor events to operate without disturbing local residents.

 

This large roof top event space is unique to Dalston, with bands, international DJs, outdoor cinema screenings, bar and restaurant, all on a large, sunny, open roof, surrounded by views of Hackney. Each summer season an eclectic mix of outdoor events take place amid the solar panels and herb garden on the roof. With our technical advice, suggestions for improvements, and our regular calibration of the sound limiter, the music operation of this popular roof top space has grown organically.

 

In many ways this could only happen in Hackney. Dalston Roof Park is a good example of how a progressive and forward thinking Local Authority supports new talent and local businesses.
