A block of old garages were located on a long strip of land in Bow, right next to the major railway lines running out from London. Developers often try to get Planning Permission for residential development in situations like this, however the Local Authority always have concerns over noise and vibration from the trains disturbing the new residents. The council will only give permission if there is a good noise and vibration report from a professionally qualified acoustic consultant.

 

The developers brought in experts Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd to take noise and vibration measurements on the derelict land near the railway line to confirm the viability of residential development.

 

We were commissioned to compile a full noise report to give technical advice on appropriate materials and construction techniques with detailed recommendations to reduce noise and vibration. The report confirmed that it was possible to build on the land, and that all the noise and vibration criteria would be acceptable, if our recommendations were followed.

 

Our report was successfully accepted by the Local Authority and the Developers achieved the full Residential Planning Permission to start building.
