The new owners of this large old traditional music hall in Shoreditch wanted to open the bar as a live music venue, and applied for a licence application with later hours to the Local Authority. This permission was refused on the basis of noise and disturbance to the local residents from the operation of the bar, with strong opposition from local residents groups.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants ltd were called in by the owners and instructed to carry out full music noise, and also environmental noise surveys, to liaise with the legal team, and to issue comprehensive noise reports which would support the application.

 

Noise surveys were carried out by our team of experienced staff, with full recommendations to resolve all the issues, and the noise reports issued. The permission was still refused, and the QC barrister and legal team decided to appeal the decision.

 

We successfully presented the noise reports, and spoke as professional Expert Witness to the Judge at the Crown Court. The appeal was won and the licence granted. The Bar Music Hall venue has been very successful and is now the famous “Blues Kitchen” in Shoreditch.
