The famous Bardens Boudoir has been a regular customer of ours for many years with their relaxed lounge bar in the heart of Dalston. The bar was to be completely refurbished, extended in area, increased capacity and also with later hours. The local authority had the usual concerns over the noise and disturbance to nearby residents, and planning permissions had previously failed on noise issues.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were called in to investigate and commissioned to complete full music noise surveys, also environmental outside customer noise surveys, with noise reports accompanied by detailed recommendations. The noise surveys confirmed that with our original design recommendations, and our late night observations, and measurements in the reports, that noise was not a major cause for concern.

 

However the planning permission was still refused. The owner had engaged specialist Planning Consultant, Jonathan Phillips, who then appealed the decision by the Local Authority. With our noise reports supporting the case the appeal was successful. At the appeal the Planning Inspector overturned the original decision, and planning permission was granted, and the premises licence issued. The building works started, and soon Bardens Boudoir was extended and successfully opened for business with later hours. A great result!
