This traditional African bar in the heart of Dalston had no premises licence, and some noise issues with residents. It was also located in the new Special Policy Area of Dalston.

 

To resolve the noise issues we quickly conducted sound tests with residents, calibrated the sound limiter and issued full calibration certificates, acceptable to the local authority noise team.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd act as qualified Licensing Agents, and we were instructed to prepare a full premises licence application, and to represent the owners at the formal Licence Hearing at the Town Hall.

 

We have already established a good relationship with the Local Police, Local Authority noise team, licensing officers, and local residents, and can smooth through a difficult licence application with successful results.

 

We submitted the licence application with our calibration certificates and reports, and attended the Licence Hearing and spoke at length to the committee; that even though located in the Special Policy Area, this new premises licence would be carefully managed and be of benefit to the local community. The committee granted the new licence, and the Moonshine Lounge is now successfully and safely in business, with a lively atmosphere.
