This world famous American-based gentlemen's club company needed professional advice from acoustic experts with particular experience of the entertainment industry and nightclubs in the West End of London. We were commissioned from the start for their first venture in the UK and Europe, at Tottenham Court Road, and undertook feasibilty noise surveys, issued a report and liaised with the local authority.We then assisted the legal team in securing the Public Entertainment LIcence, with attendance as expert witness at all the informal meetings with local authority and other officials and at the formal licence hearings. The club was completely refurbished to the design specifications in our report and included sound system design and inclusion of sound limiters. The club opened and was an immediate and continuing success. We were again commissioned to undertake possibly the most comprehensive environmental noise surveys ever made on a West End club, for their licence renewal. Every night of the week was surveyed, with continuous sound level monitoring outside the residents in three locations, full Digital Audio recording and independent video recording of street activity, with activity lists and traffic counts. The noise report was prepared, with many recommendations, all pro-actively implemented by the club management, and expert evidence submitted. The licence was successfully renewed, with formal requests for us to regularly monitor the situation and advise. The company have since opened many more venues around Europe, and we have helped renew Public Entertainment Licences in similar difficult circumstances, often in appeal at magistrate's and crown courts, appearing as expert witness on all issues concerning noise. We carry out regular calibration of the sound limiters and liaise with the local authority to ensure a smooth, trouble-free licence renewal.
