This company provides stone cutting and finishing services to the fashionable kitchen and bathroom interior design industry.Some of these included state of the art water and laser cutting machines able to cut and shape the most intricate of finished detail in natural stone materials. The company's managing director, with many years' working in the industry, takes all health and safety issues seriously. He commissioned us to undertake a formal noise at work assessment at the factory, to ensure that all staff were within the regulation limits for noise exposure, and to make the factory as comfortable and safe to work in as possible. A noise survey was made and noise exposure levels measured for all staff and machines. It was found that only minor recommendations were needed to comply with the existing regulations and these were not particularly costly. It also reassured him that when the new regulations came into force next year he was prepared and knew the situation well in advance.
